Playing Dress Up

                                DSC_1011 copyDSC_0988 copy

Happy Sunday Readers,

This #OOTD features my latest obsession, my new H&M printed trousers. I didn’t get to go out with the girls to the birthday party. Instead I decided to stay at home and play a little dress up. For this outfit I wanted to play with textures. I kept it simple with white strappy heels and an ivory top from H&M, for a clean cut-edgy look.

As you can see in a close up, my H&M top has a distress fringe style to it. Great for any time of the season, and can be paired up with jeans, a skirt, shorts, or like you se here with trousers. With the accessories I chose to wear my pink kitten sunglasses, to give it a playful twist.

Lady in Red

DSC_0847

Hello readers,

Today’s post is a special one, well at least for me it is and this is because this is the first OOTD post that features a garment (in this case the dress) that I made!

The dress was inspired by my mother, I have always thought she is a classy lady. Like my sister Ozzy I had to dress a little conservative for a birthday party that I was attending with my father (you would know this if you would have read yesterday’s post.) The dress is in a stretch knit fabric that was very pleasant to wear on a hot day.

To give my look a bit of a “Didi” twist I paired it off with a black pearl necklace and draping chains. I also wear my favorite summer sandals, a pair of BCBG Generations strappy black sandals  and a vegan envelope clutch.

Hope you like and I will keep creating more garments as I learn how to sew more…

Something Different

Face Shot 1

Hi Readers!

For this OOTD post, I tried a look that is completely different from what I am normally used to. Well, the reason behind it is I had to attend my father’s friends birthday celebration and needed a serious, “conservative” look. I still wanted to look like me, “cool” casual. I kept the serious with a navy rolled up Tommy Hilfiger pants and camel strap Kenneth Cole Reaction shoes, and the cool with the sheer tank top, striped yellow cross body  handbag and accessories. Nonetheless, it was different!

The Garden

DSC_0565

Hey there,

Today’s OOTD is by me ( Didi )

This week I had a day off from work and I decided that there is no more relaxing way to spend your day off than a stroll at The New York Botanical Garden. There where a few new exhibition I wanted to see and of course my all time favorite The Rockefeller Rose Garden ( which is in bloom right now, a must see. )

Ok now to the needy greedy… It was really hot that day and i wanted to dress really light but I also didn’t want to get to tan from all that sun exposure, I had to improvise. I ended up wearing a garden print circle skirt ( had to keep the theme going ) that I purchased from H&M 3 years ago and yes it’s still in mint conditions. For my top I went with a white crop top, and to shelter the exposed body parts from the sun I wore a kimono cardigan that is very handy all year round. Since I was going to be doing a lot of walking I put on a pair of simple white tennis shoes, to tie everything up I put on my locket that I found in a vintage store on a visit to Virginia and my stack-able bracelets that I have been collecting throughout the years. The canvas bag that I wore was of my own creation ( with the help of Ozzy. )

Here are more pictures of my day and my outfit. Also you can click on the picture to get the same or similar item.

Thanks for reading

Love D.

Sheer Daisies

top view

Hi readers!

This is my first OOTD post! This outfit I wore to go to work. Yes, I try to have some fun with my clothes once in a while. And the great thing about working in the fashion industry is that you can be yourself and have fun with fashion!

I wanted to have wear the red printed daisies neoprene skirt with a neutral color that isn’t black or white. I think this sheer cream button down blouse looks great when paired together. When I tied the blouse up to my waist, it gives the whole look this 90’s vibe that its so popular in today fashion trend. And of course, I had to finish up my look with my vintage rings, stud earrings, bowler hat and black leather converse. The black vintage nylon jacket was a good idea as well, but it was a VERY hot day, I ended up not wearing it. =[ … But its all good!

This is Rosie…

Hello there,

I’m Rosmery “Rosie” Guerra (the other twin :)). I am the photographer/makeup artist/stylist/writer of the three, I guess you can say. I enjoy wearing many different hats, but currently I am working at a Fitness Bootcamp, as a Front Desk Administrator 🙂
My style…
What can I tell you about my personal style? Well if Alexander Wang + Yves Saint Laurant + Rachel Zoe + Lorde + Rachel Bilson had a baby, it would of been me. I love anything black, tailored, menswear, feminine-ish with an edge.
One thing that my sisters and I share in common is our love for fashion and our fun size silhouette. That’s when Ozzy got the grand idea of creating a Fashion Brand for Petite Women, Gertrude + Sly, as for now we are starting of with this blog, and we’re inviting you to join us on this journey on starting up our brand.
We have so much great ideas, and we can’t wait to share it with you. So fasten your seatbelt, cause it’s going to be a long, bumpy ride. More like a roller-coaster ride, lol.
Don’t be afraid to be a weirdo, with love…

This is Didi…

Hi everyone! I’m Didi (the oldest)

I’m a Fashion Merchandise and Marketing student, hopefully getting my degree by the end of this year. I work for a Pattern maker / Designer where I am learning the tricks of the trade.

I can’t define my style as classic, edgy or modern because I dress according to my mood when I’m getting dressed. There is no method to my madness, I just keep trying on and combining different looks until something feels right. I am very much a girly girl, I enjoy clothing, make up and SHOESSSS!!!

At Gertrude + Sly we are excited to take you in this journey with us. We hope that with this blog you will have more of an understanding of our brand and what it represents.

With Love…

This is Ozzy…

DSC_0527

Hi readers! My name is Osmery “Ozzy” Guerra and I am one of the creators of “Gertrude + Sly”. I am the designer out of my sisters, and you can say I was the crazy one who thought of having a line that caters to petite women (being short is a bit of a struggle). I currently do production and product development for the fashion industry, giving me insight on what could be the next trend.

I am also the tomboy from my two sisters, but I like to look good in my extra large top (I make sure it looks right and not swallowing me). I guess you can say I’m a bit grundgy/emo-ish/artsy? Not the best describing my style, but take a peek at the teaser below and let me know what you think! =)

Peace + Love,

Ozzy

OUR VERY FIRST POST EVER!!!

G+S LOGO

IT’S OUR UNOFFICIAL BLOG LAUNCH (WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!)

This blog is dedicated to our distinctive styles, as well as our journey on creating and launching our brand “Gertrude + Sly” (hint the name of the blog). Our posts will contain OOTD (Outfit of the Day)  and how we wear 1 item 3 different ways, all according to our petite figure
and style. Come join us in this crazy ride while we turn our dreams into reality.

ABOUT THE BRAND

Gertrude + Sly is a contemporary line for petite women. We are giving the feminine
modern woman a cool vibe yet keeping up with today’s fashion trend.  The line was founded buy 3 petite sisters that love + live fashion and art. The name Gertrude + Sly was inspired by the name of our parents Gertrudis and Silvestre.

You are wondering, why a clothing line dedicated to petite women?

Well, it is our personal experience that has become a hassle on finding age appropriate and stylish petite clothing, and we mean that in every sense of the word. We spend hours in stores, just trying to find the right jacket with the right arm length or pants that aren’t 3 to 4 inches too long. We feel this struggle is not something that only affect us, but an entire clique of petite women out there. Gertrude + Sly wants to fill that gap, giving petite women more fashionable options and less hassle in their search for the right fit.

STAY TUNED!

Ozzy, Didi and Rosie
